Michigan Moment: Muskegon Ahoy!
The tall ship Roald Amundsen enters the Muskegon Channel near the lighthouse from Lake Michigan. Roald Amundsen was designed and built in 1952 as a deep sea fish lugger. She was equipped to service the military fleet of the former East Germany and became obsolete with the collapse of the Berlin Wall. She was converted to sail and rigged as a traditional Brig in 1992 and today conducts sail training programs year round, in the Baltic and North Sea during summer and in the Canary Islands and the Mediterranean in winter.
