A young mom and her baby were playing on the beach at St. Joseph, Michigan at sunset, photographed by Christopher Kierkus.
Tom Haxby captured this image in August of 2004 at sunrise when a beam of sunshine briefly illuminated the grasses in front of the lighthouse. This lighthouse is at the point of the Old Mission Peninsula just north of Traverse City, Michigan at 45 degrees latitude – halfway to the North Pole.
“I don’t really know why I am drawn to the stones I find along the edge of the surf. I know that I’m attracted to the textures, contours, and colors. It probably isn’t necessary to articulate the pleasure even a small child experiences when finding a pretty rock.” ~ Steven Huyser-Honig
“A warm summer evening at the Little Sable Lighthouse. At the time I photographed this, it was my first visit to the area, and I was impressed how tall the remaining portion of the lighthouse is.
