“It was a moonless night in July as I headed to Sleeping Bear Dunes for photos of star trails. These are long exposures, often over 30 minutes, that show the effect of the earth’s rotation through “star trails” on a photograph.” ~ Tom Haxby
Photographer Stacy Niedzwiecki celebrated the arrival of spring on the Old Mission Peninsula, capturing an image of the beautiful rolling hills and orchards in peak blossom season.
“Returning home from my sons’ Little League practice, I noticed a large puddle in a cornfield within walking distance of my home. I realized in about half an hour, the sunset would be lined up perfect in the tree line reflection. I grabbed my camera and returned just in time for the show!” ~ Stacy Niedzwiecki

On a rare winter’s day with wet snow and then sunshine this scene was taken along the North Country Trail overlooking the Manistee River. This area is called “High Rollways” because during Michigan’s logging era logs were rolled into the river and then floated to the sawmills.
Winter sunrises can occasionally be amazing. Early indications are that this morning’s sunrise could be one of those. I quickly set up the camera on the tripod on the deck of our home at Crosswinds. A few minutes more of waiting for peak color and presto!
