Description
You are viewing the remnants of Hurricane Isaac, which made for a spectacular sunset over Lake Michigan at Ludington State Park on September 1, 2012.
The northernmost edge of the storm was literally parked over Ludington (as can be seen from the accompanying radar image below). Michigan residents were fortunate enough to experience the storm’s beautiful side, as Isaac was blamed for five fatalities in Louisiana and two in Mississippi. The hurricane caused an estimated $1-2 billion in wind-related losses alone.
This special piece was my 2012 ArtPrize entry and exhibited at Peaches Bed & Breakfast.
Interestingly enough, it didn’t rain a bit, either… but rather, the beautiful clouds stayed fixed on the horizon all day long.
